The ”Grade 3 December Daily Math” work packet is designed for students in Grade 3. This packet is also designed for Canadian teachers as the activities are based on expectations outlined in the Ontario Mathematics curriculum.

Each Daily Math monthly packet will feature 30 or 31 (depending on the month) math exercise pages that contain a variety of math skill activities (approximately 5 or more per page). These pages can be used as an activation tool prior to a math lesson, at the beginning of the school day or as extra practice after a math lesson. The activities presented in this series of packets will span the various strands outlined in the Ontario Mathematics curriculum.

The skill set addressed in this packet once again involves number sense with numbers above 100 but less than 1000. The following skills are addressed in the December packet:
- Counting on from a given number;
- Ordering numbers from least to greatest;
- Rearranging numbers to create the smallest and the largest number possible;
- Writing numbers that come before and after a given number;
- Spinning and comparing numbers using the <, >, and = symbols;
- Writing numbers that are greater than or less than a given number;
- Writing numbers that are 10 more, 10 less, 1 more, 1 less than a given number;
- Identifying the closest ten to a given number;
- Representing numbers using base ten blocks;
- Identifying whether a given addition or subtraction equation is true or false;
- Adding and subtracting single and double digit numbers;
- Solving word problems;
- Making equal groups;
- Skip counting by 2’s, 5’s and 10’s to 1000;
- Counting and representing money amounts to $5.00;
- Comparing measurements given in cm;
- Writing the time to the given hour, half-hour and quarter hour;
- Writing about patterns on a hundreds chart;
- Representing numerical patterns given a pattern rule;
- Extending geometric patterns;
- Creating geometric patterns;
- Writing the missing numbers to make equal equations;
- Interpreting data presented in a table;

Use these exercise pages for students who are fast finishers, at the beginning of a math lesson to activate student thinking, at the beginning of the day or send the sheets home for extra practice.
