Description
Introduction to Matter Lesson
Introduce students to matter with this PowerPoint, worksheet, and homework!
The PowerPoint takes you through a Do Now, short notes about the study of chemistry and matter, a short think-pair-share partner activity and worksheet, web graphs, and a homework worksheet.
Students will discuss what matter is and how it is different from non-matter. This can be a confusing concept for students to grasp at first, so the PowerPoint also briefly reviews the states of matter.
This is a great introduction to the basics of matter and establishes base knowledge to help students understand chemistry. Depending on how you want to use the materials this could be a 20 minute mini-lesson or it could take a full period to accommodate plenty of time for class discussion.
PowerPoint and all worksheets are fully editable, and answer keys are provided.
