These Main Idea cards feature short informational text (nonfiction) passages to help your students master this challenging reading strategy. The informational texts cover three interesting topics: artists, fossils, and the three branches of government.
There are 12 cards with differentiated and scaffolded questions. The total 28 questions are open-ended and multiple-choice (STAAR). The open-ended questions are more basic facts and details questions. The multiple-choice questions are focused on ideas.
Some of the main ideas are stated in the paragraphs, but most of them are inferred from the details. These main idea task cards are great for grades 3-5.
