These are a great way to scaffold second graders to TRUE problem solving.

SUPER EASY to differentiate since students (or teachers) can choose their own numbers! Allow first graders REPEATED experiences like this to develop reasoning skills for solving problems. Numberless Task cards can be a sorting center... that evolves into a Fill-in-your-own-numbers- and solve center! Change the numbers for each leveled group OR allow students to pick numbers!

My First Math Story center is a favorite in grades first & second grades ALL YEAR LONG!! Start with fill in the blank word problems (like Mad Libs) and move up through 3 different levels before crafting your very own word problems! Once students master the fill in the blank levels.. they can write their own problems by choosing:

*a story starter card

*a pair of numbers

*a specific operation to use

Numberless task cards come with 2 full sets and more.

Consider using this center one week a month ALL YEAR LONG! Or one day per week all year.
