WHAT'S INCLUDED? (PRINT AND DIGITAL)
Game 1: Bigger, Smaller
Students figure out the perimeter of each rectangle. Then, they drag the correct label on top of each one.
Game 2: Shade It In
Students drag the colored rectangle to be bigger or smaller so that it has the correct perimeter given at the bottom.
Game 3: Find a Perimeter of...
Students find the shape that has the same perimeter as the number at the top by putting a circle on top of the answer.
Game 4: Real-Life Perimeter
Students find the perimeter of each real-life object by typing the answer in the green box.
HOW TO IMPLEMENT:
There are 11 problems included in each of the 4 games (total of 44 questions).
Digitally: The first problem is always an example for students so they know what to do. I would recommend completing 5 questions during your lesson together and assigning the other 5 for students to complete independently.
Print: Print the task cards out and put them in a math center. Have students record answers on the recording sheet provided. Students can use the self-checking answer key to check their work. You can choose between the color and black and white option.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Aligns with Common Core 3.MD.8:
- Solve real world and mathematical problems involving perimeters of polygons, including finding the perimeter given the side lengths, finding an unknown side length, and exhibiting rectangles with the same perimeter and different areas or with the same area and different perimeters.
This aligns with 3rd Grade Texas TEKS:
- TEKS 3.7B: determine the perimeter of a polygon or a missing length when given perimeter and remaining side lengths in problems
This aligns with 4th Grade Texas TEKS:
- TEKS 4.5C: use models to determine the formulas for the perimeter of a rectangle (l + w + l + w or 2l + 2w), including the special form for perimeter of a square (4s) and the area of a rectangle (l x w)
- TEKS 4.5D: solve problems related to perimeter and area of rectangles where dimensions are whole numbers
This aligns with Florida BEST Standards (B.E.S.T.)
- MA.3.GR.2.3 Solve mathematical and real-world problems involving the perimeter and area of rectangles with whole-number side lengths using a visual model and a formula.
- MA.2.GR.2.1 Explore perimeter as an attribute of a figure by placing unit segments along the boundary without gaps or overlaps. Find perimeters of rectangles by counting unit segments.
- MA.2.GR.2.2 Find the perimeter of a polygon with whole-number side lengths. Polygons are limited to triangles, rectangles, squares and pentagons.
