Are you introducing nonfiction text structures with your students? Are you looking for an easy way to introduce, practice, and assess student understanding of problem and solution text structure? If so, this product is for you!
This product begins with an introduction printable to review the basics of problem and solution text structure.
Then, the product continues with a two-sided practice worksheet in which students will read closely, identify structure-specific signal words, and graphically organize information within two brief texts. The first text focuses on the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, and the second discusses shark fishing.
Finally, the product concludes with a problem and solution text structure paragraph-writing assessment to monitor student concept understanding. Students will select a topic with a clear problem/solution connection, will graphically organize their ideas, and will then follow a checklist to write a complete problem and solution paragraph of their own.
Total Product Includes:
- Directions for use
- Problem/solution text structure introduction printable
- One two-sided practice page (provided in two versions: one in which students draw and complete their own graphic organizers, and a second in which students simply complete a provided graphic organizer)
