WHAT'S INCLUDED?

10 "INSTANT" LESSONS WITH PRACTICE WORKSHEETS!

Write a Repeating Decimal as a Fraction Instant Lesson

Perfect Squares, Cubes, and Roots Instant Lesson

Solve Equations Using Square and Cube Roots
Approximating Non-Perfect Squares Instant Lesson
Rational vs. Irrational Numbers Instant Lesson
Rules of Exponents Instant Lesson

Negative Exponents Instant Lesson
Scientific Notation vs. Standard Form Instant Lesson
Multiply & Divide Numbers in Scientific Notation Instant Lesson

Add & Subtract Numbers in Scientific Notation Instant Lesson

EACH Instant Lesson contains the following pages:

1. The Lesson:
“Here’s the Problem” - Read and discuss the problem.
“Here’s How” - Solve the problem STEP-BY-STEP.
“Let’s Try This One More Time...” (Solve additional problems) OR "Let's Take it a Step Further" (Solve more advanced problems).

There are two versions of the lesson worksheet:

  • Version #1: Students complete “Here’s How” along with the teacher. Use this version to model how to solve the problem and guide them through each step.

  • Version #2: “Here’s How” is already completed with all of the work shown for each step. Use this version for advanced students who are able to look at an example and understand the concept or as a “refresher” if you need to review a concept that was previously taught. (Perfect to leave as substitute plans, too!)

2. The Practice Worksheet:
Now it’s time for the students to practice what they’ve learned! Assign the practice worksheet as individual, partner, or small group practice.

3. The VIDEOS:

I've recorded videos to accompany each lesson worksheet. Simply share the video link with your students so they can follow along with the lesson and complete the examples. PERFECT for remote/distance learning!

Complete Answer Keys included for each lesson and worksheet.

Know that numbers that are not rational are called irrational. Understand informally that every number has a decimal expansion; for rational numbers show that the decimal expansion repeats eventually, and convert a decimal expansion which repeats eventually into a rational number.
Use rational approximations of irrational numbers to compare the size of irrational numbers, locate them approximately on a number line diagram, and estimate the value of expressions (e.g., π²). For example, by truncating the decimal expansion of √2, show that √2 is between 1 and 2, then between 1.4 and 1.5, and explain how to continue on to get better approximations.
Know and apply the properties of integer exponents to generate equivalent numerical expressions. For example, 3² × (3⁻⁵) = (3⁻³) = 1/3³ = 1/27.
