Description

Introduce your students to Scratch coding by using these unplugged activities. No need for technology. Your students will become familiar with the types of blocks and how to build an algorithm all before they have even turned on a device!

This resource includes 2 different unplugged coding activities

Included in this resource:

★ 24 large common Scratch blocks

★ 24 small common Scratch blocks (a smaller version of the large ones)

★ 5 TYPE blocks

★ Descriptions explaining what each color block does

★ 2 different activities with teachers notes

Activity 1: Getting to know Scratch blocks relay

Learning Objective: Students will be able to identify 5 different types of blocks

used in Scratch Coding

Activity 2: Human Robots & Algorithms

Learning Objective: Students will become familiar with making algorithms using Scratch blocks


This resource is suitable for teachers with no coding experience. It is an introduction to the types of blocks that are used in Scratch coding.

Target Grades: This resource is best suited to grade 2-4 however it can be adapted as the teacher sees fit.

Please NOTE: Preparing this activity can take some time when printing, cutting and laminating. This activity is designed to be reused many times.

Great for setting up coding activities. I laminated them and students created mazes and then used the pieces to provide directions. Some of the pages were off center when printed.
