Description

Here's a simple and fun way to assess your kids about text structures!

Students read five different mini paragraphs about baseball, identifying the structure used to write each one. Then they color in the images according to their answers.

This activity can be used as a review, quick assessment, re-teach, in a reading center, on sub days, with partners, in person or from home. Easy enough to self-grade simply by comparing their colored-in design to the answer key!

What’s so important about text structures? Research shows that tackling and understanding the way an author has organized their writing increases students’ overall reading comprehension. Additionally, many other comprehension-based activities such as summarizing, inferring, elaborating, and applying are also enhanced. Can't go wrong with an activity like this!

For easy distance learning, this product has been intentionally packaged including a file of just the student pages. Now when you post your assignments, you can send only what the students need to have!

Here's what's inside the zip file:

  • Intro and teacher notes
  • Student pages with clear directions
  • Answer key
  • Bonus file of just student pages in a .pdf

Here's why you'll love this product:

"...Reading about the same topic organized different ways really helped my students to understand the difference between them..." --buyer
