As we get the fall results as teachers I feel it would be nice to have a quick quiz to check for understanding on the standards within the test as we prepare for the Spring. This is quick, and gives a solid answer to you the teacher if they know the content. These quizzes can be used for many other scenarios too. Keep eyes open for more to come. ANSWER KEY INCLUDED.

Surface Area

This activity guides the learner in finding the surface area of a 3-D object (cube). TLW classifies the 3-D object by labeling its edges, faces, and vertices. Then, given dimensions and a visual representation of the net of a cube, TLW calculate the area of each face and sum the total for the cube's surface area. I use this resource as an interactive math journal activity for my alternate middle school math class, but it can be used as differentiated notes, quiz, or for reinforcement or review.
