Geotown Project - geometry & map skills with distance learning option
The "Geotown" project encourages students to use their knowledge of 1-D and 2-D figures to create a map of a fictional town. I assign the project after we've covered our G.1.1 standard, and they work independently on it until the due date. Subtraction work based on the concept of the Montessori subtraction strip board, but simplified.
Two sets of number strips represent the numbers 1 through 10 and -1 through -10. The student chooses the two strips corresponding with his subtraction equation and layers the negative strip over the positive strip to determine the answer.
