This walks students through what the operations do in math, not using code words. My students use this when solving word problems. We go through this as we introduce the operations in word problems. We fill out an anchor chart and we spend a lot of time discussing what the operations mean. I have a blank copy for the students and have included a copy filled out for you to adjust as needed. I put the blank copy in students journal and as we fill out the anchor chart, they fill out each opera

Integrating Math Throughout Your Day - Lunch Count

Integrating learning throughout the day is one more way for students to build their skills and grow as learners. Each morning the students sign in and make a lunch choice using this form. Print it on cardstock and laminate or stick in a page protector sleeve. Students mark their lunch choice using a dry erase marker. Afterwards a student, group, committee (whatever you use in your classroom) analyzes the data for lunch count and attendance. This is a great way to integrate addition, subtrac

First Grade Common Core Math Spreadsheet

This is an excel spreadsheet that helps you track your students' progress on the first grade common core math standards. In the white sections of each grid you can type in a number 1-5. Each number has a color code. I am using 5 as complete mastery and 1 as no mastery. On assessment type, I might type in scores rather than T for test if I want the score recorded here. If you want the 1-5 scale changed to a percentage or something, I'll be glad to do it, but it might take some time--it just depen

I use a money based behavior system in my classroom and it works wonderfully. The money I created is called "Kinzinger Kash", but the document can easily be edited to match your own name. The money also includes a palm tree to match my beach themed classroom, but you can change that to your liking as well. I also attached how my students use their money to buy rewards. They can spend their money at the end of each week, or choose to save up for a larger prize. I hope you enjoy this! Happy te

My students completed it after seeing their grade and going through their portfolios. I kept it to one page so they would also have time to go through their portfolios with their parents. The classroom behavior section allows parents to see what you have to say about their child in case you are busy with another conference.
