Editable Achievement Award

Achievement awards that can be changed from math to any subject. I use these awards in my classroom to motivate students to increase their quiz/test scores. You can post them around the classroom or hand them out to students. I do both. The students take great pride in their name being called out in front of the whole class and students that did not earn an award are motivated to do so.

First Day of School Math "Getting to Know You" Quiz

A quiz? On the first day of school?! Okay, it's more of a student survey, BUT your students will perk up the minute they hear you call for quiz time! I like to give students this "getting to know you" quiz at the beginning of class on the first day to give me time to take attendance. The first day of school can be nerve-wracking for many students; I've found that having something to work on immediately gives many students that sense of normalcy and time to get comfortable in their new classroom

The student identifies exactly what error in thinking, studying or calculating was made in each wrong answer. Hopefully, patterns easily emerge. This is editable, to add more rows or to delete the parent signature line. This is a convenient and easy way to help students succeed, as well as to document your interventions. This sheet is a great way for students to reflect in their performance and help them set targeted goals for themselves! This should be given to them after a mid-unit quiz so they can set goals for their performance on a unit assessment. You can see on the second page, or like I use it: the back of the sheet, I provide the standard(s) being assessed and instead of setting a goal like "I will improve from 60% to 80% in standard 7.EE.B.4a by....." students should use the description and verbiage of

This set includes: data notebook tracking sheet, homework page, and pretest posttest. Studies show that if children practice one strategy for a series of days that their success rate will increase. In my classroom, we take the pretest the week before we are going to start the 20 days of homework. They record their score on their data tracking sheet. Each day I give the students 1 problem to solve using the strategy that I want them to master. It is important that they only have 1 problem a n

The students must identify: What the PROBLEM is asking, the important INFORMATION in the problem, their PLAN to solve the problem (I require this to be a complete sentence), and then they SOLVE/CHECK the problem and make sure their answer is reasonable. This works great for word problems and really helps students understand problems and learn how to break down probl
