In this project, students learn how to use polynomial function to model roller coaster rides. In this first part, they are given some polynomial functions to find the relative maximum/minimum, increasing/decreasing intervals, x- and y-intercepts, etc. They will explore the average rate of change. In the second part of the project, students are asked design their own roller coaster given some basic criteria. Students should use graphing devices/computer applications to complete this project.
