About the store
I have recently left the classroom for a data analyst job in the private sector. Prior to this transition, I have taught math at a liberal arts college for 8 years. Some of the courses I taught regularly were precalculus, statistics, and business calculus. I have also been tutoring students of all ages for many years. Oddly enough, SAT math is one of my favorite tutoring subjects because I get to solve more interesting problems with the student. It also covers many topics in mathematics.

Polynomial Function Project - Roller Coaster
In this project, students learn how to use polynomial function to model roller coaster rides. In this first part, they are given some polynomial functions to find the relative maximum/minimum, increasing/decreasing intervals, x- and y-intercepts, etc. They will explore the average rate of change. In the second part of the project, students are asked design their own roller coaster given some basic criteria. Students should use graphing devices/computer applications to complete this project.

Linear and exponential function best fit line for US Forever Postage Project
In this project, students are asked to research the history of USPS and find historic data of US forever stamp prices for the past 50 years. They are asked to use the data to create a scatter/plot (time series) and create a line of best fit. They are asked to create both a linear model and an exponential model, and compare which of the two models is a better for the data collected. Holiday Gift Wrapping Geometry Project
In this project, students are asked to create a holiday gift wrapping container, calculate the surface area and volume, and compare the analytical results from the actual craft. Graphing Linear Function

Teaching style
I am a more traditional instructor. I have tried to be creative by using flipped classroom and smart devices. However, I have found that students still learn best when they are given one-on-one, face-to-face instruction. Instruction needs not be dry. I think good demonstration with concrete examples would engage students learn better. Then they would be more confident in solving problems on their own. I have also allotted a lot more class time on class practice for students to work on problems. I also like to give case study assignments to my students.
