First And Second Derivative Tests - Create Your Own Matching Activity (Word)

In this activity students will be creating four different functions in which they will find their derivatives, determine all critical points, extrema, intervals of increase and decrease and intervals of concavity. Students will also be asked to find a graph of the original function. The activity can be downloaded as a Word document or a Google Slide (see alternate listing) and can easily be used as an online activity, or, can be printed, collected and used as a classroom matching game using all

Career Monthly Bils Circle Graph Project

In this project students draw a career and select 10 of their monthly bills. They then figure what percent of their monthly salary goes to each item and create a circle graph showing where their money goes. The file you will receive includes a rubric for the project, an accountability sheet, 24 "career cards", a list of choices for the 7 required and 3 choice items in the project, and teachers notes about how the project has been made successful in their class. It is a word document so any of th

Students will create Circle Graphs (which they will later turn into hearts) and give them to their favorite teacher in the school. Students will first fill in a decimal/fraction/percent/degree chart using the candy from a box of candy hearts. They will use this information to create a circle graph. Students will then turn the circle into a heart and write a message on the back of the heart for their favorite teacher. The chart (and an example of how to complete the chart), how to create the

This is a wonderful multi-day project I have used for the past two years with my 8th grade math and honors Algebra 1 students! It is low-prep, takes around four 60-minute class periods, and is perfect for the end of the year after testing. Students select an image to trace in the free, online Desmos graphing calculator. They trace their image by creating functions and limiting the domain and range. 8th grade math students stick to basic images and linear functions, while Algebra 1 students can
