Percents Turtle Grand Prix

This is a Turtle Grand Prix Game that I created to review percent equation and/or proportion. There are 5 miles. Students (I like to pair them up) must complete mile 1 before moving on to mile 2 and so on. The key to the game is "slow and steady wins the race." The objective is to take your time, because the more questions you get correct the more spaces you can move. This eliminates students rushing to be the first one done. Included are the 5 miles, each with an answer key. I have uploaded th

Coding with Python: Verifying 2D Quadrilaterals from 4 coordinate points

Teachers students how to code in Python 3 (all resources are freely available online). (there is a free teachers guide to this assignment) Asks students to create a flow diagram (pseudo-code) and then a code (Python) that verifies what shape (square, rectangle, rhombus, parallelogram, trapezoid, kite) a set of four (x,y) coordinates creates (if any). Most code is provided in blocks and only needs to be edited. Meets Ontario, Canada: Grade 10: Analytic Geometry curriculum expectations Includes

This activity can be done in groups, pairs, or individually. I use it as a station when we are working on unit conversion. Other stations will include similar activities involving linear measurement, volume, and area. Students will be given a set of 14 cards. 7 of them have a subject (ex: human, car, turtle...) and the other 7 have a speed in various units (ex: 211 ft/min, 80.47 km/hr, ...) Students will first match the speeds with the subject they think it corresponds with. After they record

Students can choose between 6 different animals to construct completely out of circles. By constructing their animals they are practicing measuring with a ruler (using both metric and English measurements) and using a compass. This is also great review for circle vocabulary such as radius and diameter. This activity includes the instructions for a bear, panda, turtle, pig, frog, and lady bug. Each animal has the dimensions for all body parts.
