We developed this rubric and scaffold in order to help our student prepare for the CMAS standardized test. We scoured through the requirements and then used this rubric to communicate clearly with our students what is expected of them on a compare and contrast essay question. I am sure most standardized tests ask for similar expectation. We have also found that this helps students understand compare and contrast text structure.
