There are three simple rules that use for small groups daily. When I start my group I have them say the rules together. I always have a clip board during small groups so I cut them and tape them on the back. I point to them as they say them. They evidently don't need to say them or even be reminded of them. This greatly helps with the students that come to small groups and always wants to touch whats on the table.

School expectations are great when used as an individualized behavior check-in. The student learns to monitor their own behavior by going over their school rules on a timed interval. If they have followed their school rules during that time interval, they access the reinforcement previously determined by the teacher. When the student fills up a goal percentage of their chart, they access a bigger reinforcer! You can laminate the sheet and draw smiley faces or use it as a sticker chart, whichever

Classroom rules in IB PYP are called "Essential Agreements". Ideally, you and your class generate them together. In practice, I "guide" my little ones towards the words I like to use. This is an example of a typical poster I have used in my Preschool classroom after our whole group discussion. It includes simple words, short phrases and pictures that remind non-readers what the rules are.

If they followed the designated rules and had one or less problem behaviors, they earn a check. 4. If they earn all 3 checks at recess, they have earned their reinforcer! Verbally praise student as well for following directions at recess!
