Multiplying & Dividing Integers Rules

This graphic organizer combines rules I have seen used involving both the triangle and "tic-tac-toe" style board. I combined them into one sheet for easy use and students love hole-punching this and putting it into their binder for use when they are at home. Simple, to the point, and effective!

This is a song that you sing to the tune of Old MacDonald had a farm. The song teaches you the rules of adding and subtracting integers. (alike add keep the sign, different subtract take large number sign) There is also a practice sheet. Students will decide which rule is applied then solve. Included is a page that can be copied and cut into smaller versions so each student can have their own copy.

Adding Integers practice with Rules

This activity is for students to identify what signs are on the integers (same signs, different signs), then decide if they should add or subtract, and decide on the sign of the answer. The written out rules are to be cut out and glued by the students and there is also an Answer bank to choose from.

This editable foldable for 7th grade math provided students with practice modeling integer addition using integer chips and the number lines. There are a total of 12 problems, as well as space to write the "rule" which they will discover after completing the problems given. Perfect for interactive math notebooks! I use this type of assignment during whole group guided instruction, but it would also work great for intervention, small group, centers, or during a tutoring session. This download i

CRACK THE TEST CO. — 8th Grade Math Integer Exponents and Scientific Notation

Here is the problem most students have with scientific notation: they can usually convert a number into the form a × 10ⁿ, but when they multiply and get 15 × 10⁶, they write it as the final answer. They do not know to check whether the coefficient is between 1 and 10. On LEAP, that unfinished answer costs points every time. This bundle teaches all four sub-standards — exponent rules, scientific notation conversion, and all four operations — with Louisiana oil production and New Orleans distance

Free, fun, and challenging. One page of diamond problems for integer operations. The second page gives examples how diamond problems,or the 'magic X' (the X inside the diamond), can be adapted to practice monomial operations differentiating the rules for exponents, combining like terms, distributive property, factoring GCF, factoring 1x^2 trinomials, and multiplying special product binomials. The factoring can be done as discovery before formally teaching it. Use as warm-ups or partner work.

Integers

This lesson is an intro to operations with integers. Students will understand how to add integers by recognizing opposites and using a number line. By understanding that we are always adding integers and taking out opposites, it eliminates the confusion students get when taught following rules and constantly changing signs. When using a number line, students are able to visualize integer operations when applying these skills in the context of real world problems such as temperature or elevati
