This is the rubric I use to grade all summative assessments in classes where I am executing skills based learning. I use three categories: mathematical reasoning/communication, problem solving, and producing quality work. 45% of a student's grade is problem solving, 10% is producing quality work, and 45% is communication, but feel free to do whatever you feel works for your class. This grading scale is intended for use in non-honors classes, as it seeks to aid students who at times struggle to learn new concepts. I have spent two years tweaking this scale to where I feel comfortable with it, and after using it for the last year and a half, I feel that the grades my students earn reflect their effort given and understanding of the material present on the test.
