About the store
Hi everyone! I have been teaching math for 20 years. Most of my career has been in NYC Department of Education. I've taught in almost every borough but have mostly taught Algebra 1 and 2. I moved to CT for a couple years after having a baby and am now in CA. I've been an instructional coach, math specialist, tutor for student performers, and always seem to come back to teaching Algebra. I love being in the classroom and designing curriculum that all students can begin while challenging students to think deeply about the math they're learning.

Skill Review Mini Quizzes

How I use thisEach week I focus on one review skill with my Algebra 1 class. We do 2-4 problems on this skill at the beginning of each class. This is in addition to the lesson, but is a fundamental skill like solving equations or simplifying radicals, that will help them understand the lesson better. At the end of the week, or 2 weeks if I see them every other day, I give them a Skill Review Quiz. I make 4 versions (since they sit in groups of 4 in my room) and it's about 5 questions long, taki

Algebra 1 Project (Explain it to your Middle School Self)

Hi all! This is a super flexible and highly EDITABLE project to give you math students. The first 6 slides are what I give to my Algebra 1 students, but the next 6 slides I made mostly editable so you can change the subject and much of the directions to tailor your needs. My students have had fun with this in the past and is especially great for those students who like to get creative with it (i.e. comic book style, amazing graphics). I usually give one class period to get started on this since

Stress Response & Recognizing Function Patterns

Students often have a lot of anxiety around math. This worksheet helps to talk about it. What types of stress can help you and which types aren't that helpful? I typically do this at the beginning of the school year, where you still want to get some math in but the main focus is building community and connecting to students. The Recognizing Patterns Functions encourages students to tinker and think about patterns that will be talked about later in the course, like linear, exponential and quadra

This google form has about 15 questions for students to assess how they're feeling about math and reflecting on their performance. It does as for input on what the teacher is doing and what they could improve on as well. You should be able to edit this so keep what works and change what you need!

Feelings About Math & Consecutive Integers

This worksheet is designed to get students to think about how their feelings about math (i.e. hate, exciting, anxious) impact their behavior and openness to learning math. I personally use it towards the beginning of the year when I'm trying to teach students soft skills and connect with them, while still doing some academic work. The Consecutive Integers part of this worksheet is intended for students to mostly guide themselves through, so if it's a review for them great, but if not they shoul

Teaching style

I definitely view myself as a facilitator to student learning. I manage the environment students learn in and what they learn, but they explore the subject and I help to guide them in that exploration.

My own education history

I have 3 Masters Degrees, one of which is in Math Leadership and another in Math Education (the 3rd one has nothing to do with my career but is probably my favorite lol).

Additional biographical information

I live in Los Angeles with my husband and toddler and teach at a nearby high school.
