Penguin Power-Poems and More!
You will find five penguin poems along with a written activity for each. The written activities include identifying:
-long/short I words
-words with suffixes
-rhyming pairs
-contractions
-nouns
-stanzas
-syllables in one line
(Please note-these skills are not used with each poem but over the use of all five poems!)
Students are asked to visualize one poem and create a caption recounting the important facts from it.

Get your students creative juices flowing as you start the school year. Read the book Ten Black Dots by Donald Crews. Give students 55 colored dots, this booktivity, and let your students be inspired to create their own book. This is a perfect activity to use the first week of school because students can work independently and let you have some time to get some much needed work done!
