I have taught for 26 years in a variety of grade levels and socio-economic levels. I have also worked as an elementary and secondary school counselor. I'm currently working as an education specialist at my local Education Service Center.
I have a B.S.I.S. from Midwestern State University, a Master's in Technology Integration from Nova Southeastern University, and a Master's of Education in School Counseling from Lamar University.
I have also worked as a Campus Technology Integration Facilitator, and have presented at local, regional, and state conferences.

Animal Group Classification PowerPoint
This is a PowerPoint that I used to introduce the animal classification unit in second grade. It could easily be adapted to lower or higher grade levels.
Another way I used this was as a template. Students were grouped and only had the title on the slide. They then had to list the characteristics of the animal group they were responsible for. Then we were able to create a PowerPoint that everyone contributed to. You could also have groups complete an entire PowerPoint.

End of Year History Choice Project with Rubrics

Number / Number Word Memory
This is a fun activity that can be used for practice and reinforcement with place value concepts.
The place value concepts are between 1 and 100. I use a similar game with fifth grade (available on this website), but adapted it for lower level elementary. It is played in traditional "memory" style. Students turn the cards face down and take turns attempting to match numbers with their correct word form.
It could also be played individually. I use it as a warm-up game, review game, or choice

Adaptation Activity: Zoo Scavenger Hunt
This activity is meant to be completed during or after a study of animal adaptations.

Spanish Oral Presentation Project - easily adapted for other languages
This is an oral presentation that I use with my introductory middle school students, but it is applicable to any introductory level. Students use this as their first presentation, and it is all given in Spanish. It is a very brief speech about their likes and dislikes. Step-by-step instructions are given for the students.

National Fair State Report Forms and Information
You may be wondering what a National Fair is! Well, at my school it is a 44 year-old tradition done every year in fifth grade. It is a six-week-long project where each student selects a state (a different state if possible). On the night of our fall Open House all the students are set up in the gym with their presentations. Glogster Biography for Texas History, History, or English
This is an activity I use in my Texas History class, but it could be adapted to any class where people are studied in depth. Other teachers in my building have adapted it for U.S. History and English (novel character biographies). The students love using the glogster website, and it's safe and user friendly. I do highly recommend that you use the FREE edu version at edu.glogster.com. It allows much more control of your students.

Bruja Loca - Review Games for any Foreign Language
This includes two sets of games for practicing and/or reviewing items of clothing AND house and home vocabulary. The games can also be used to work on noun and adjective agreement. Benefits and Uses of Spelling Contracts with Example
Contracts are an easy way to differentiate spelling. Contracts can be used with any spelling list. My students do not all have the same list, so contracts work out great for differentiation.

Test Corrections Worksheet (reteaching tool)
In order to meet state and national standards, I created a simple worksheet for students to complete after any quiz or test. This allows the students to work (with me or alone) to correct their test corrections. This also allows for re-teaching so that they may retest, if desired, at a later time.
I require the work to be completed before students can retest. Another option would be to give partial credit back for every corrected answer.

Interactive Activites or Learning Centers about Snakes
These activities will work as individual activities or with a learning center in an early elementary classroom. These are activities I created to go with a basal reader book about snakes, but they can both work with any book or unit with snakes. I used them as a week-long center activity, but they could be used in one day or lesson, as well.

Native Americans of Texas Organizer
This is a graphic organizer I use with my seventh grade Texas History students. I let them work in small groups to fill in the chart. This could be done individually, as a cloze-type activity, or even used as an outline for notes. The Native American groups listed correspond with CSCOPE. The page numbers correspond with the textbook "Lone Star," but you could use your own text book or the CSCOPE information to fill in the chart.

Take-Home Book Bag Templates and Organization
Take home book bags are plastic bags with a collection of books inside that can be “checked out” by students. Clay Animation Rubric
This is a rubric I used to evaluate a clay animation presentation done in a second grade classroom. The title says "Life Cycle of a Frog," but the rubric is generic and the title can be changed.
I give the students the rubric to look at when they are working. This allows them to know exactly how they will be evaluated.

Teaching style
