Experience

I create age-appropriate resources for High School & Transition Special Education teachers that get students asking questions, foster excitement for learning, and provide practical, real-world skills for today's students, specifically functional math and life skills. Drawing from 15 years of experience as a special education teacher at the high school and transition levels, I use this expertise to inform both the design and content of the resources I create.

Teaching style

The skill I work to teach my students is to be independent problem solvers. I have created my lessons and shaped my teaching methods to encourage students to use their resources (materials from class) and their peers to get their questions answered. When developing my lesson materials I try to keep everything simple with minimal text directions and low level vocabulary with corresponding and supportive pictures. It is so important that students can easily navigate the resources to find their answer in order to feel independent and successful.

My own education history

Bachelor of Science in Special Education and Elementary Education from Bradley University Masters of Advanced Special Education (LBS II) with certifications in Multiple Disabilities and Assistive Technology from the University of Illinois at Chicago 30 graduate hours in Assistive Technology
