This is one of students' favorite projects each year. The activity tasks students with creating their own restaurant menu, from naming and describing dishes to choosing colors and layout. This is a PowerPoint presentation that introduces the basic rules of photography composition. It was created for a digital photography class, but would work just as nicely with a film photography class. The presentation introduces the following rules of composition: point, line, shape/pattern, formal balance, informal balance, emphasis, contrast, and rule of thirds. Accompanying each rule is a simple explanation and a photo that demonstrates the rule.
