This is to help introduce slope for the first time based on the fact that students have previous knowledge of proportional relationships. It helps them to understand that slope is the same thing as unit rate, the rate of change, and constant of proportionality. They will then brainstorm where slope is used in real life. I used it in my 8th grade classroom to introduce slope. Previously in 7th grade, students have learned about proportional relationships and mastered the concept of unit rate.

This is a weekly gradebook that can help keep track of Attendance (Att.), Homework (HW), and daily Participation (Part.). It makes it easy to quickly record whether students are absent/tardy as well as if they have their homework for the day. In addition, it provides a place to easily record daily participation points. At the end of the week, it is simple to transfer these records to your permanent file. Then, you can print a new one off for the next week.

Students apply previous knowledge of proportional relationships (graphs, tables, equations) to non proportional scenarios. They will have to create a table, graph, and equation and describe how it differs from previous material they have learned. Students will also describe the term intercept and use that to apply what x and y intercept may mean. They will have to describe where the different components of their equation appears on the graph.
