This is what I use to get my 5th graders started with science fair!
The chart helps keep them organized with the steps they need to complete: topic, question, research and bibliography, hypothesis, materials/procedure, experiment, results, conclusion, display board, presentation. Each step has an explanation, a place to write a due date and point value (out of 100 total).
The second page is a Topic Proposal Form to be completed by students and parents.
The goal of the project is to develop an understanding of the beginnings of math and how it affects the math students learn today.
A great project for the beginning, middle or end of the year! Students will research a mathematician and create a visual of their choice about their person.
The visual will include 4 parts: Part 1- The Basics, Part 2 – Childhood, Part 3 - Education, Part 4- How The World Has Been Affected
Directions for students also include some suggested mathematicians.
