Chance cut & paste sorting activity Used as a pre-assessment Students sorted events into likely, unlikely, impossible and certain. Identify outcomes of familiar events involving chance and describe them using everyday language such as ‘will happen’, ‘won’t happen’ or ‘might happen’(ACMSP024) Identify practical activities and everyday events that involve chance. Describe outcomes as ‘likely’ or ‘unlikely’ and identify some events as ‘certain’ or ‘impossible’ (ACMSP047)

I used whiteboard markers with my students and had them leap over the small lily pads when skip counting by 2's and 5's. Some of the kids who needed support, filled in each number and then rubbed out the smaller ones. I told a story where the frog wasn't able to jump on the smaller lily pads in 2's and 5's because he had more than one breakfast. I also used large lily pads to mo
2x Board games
In pairs, students roll either 2 or 3 dice (depending on board) and use mental maths to add the numbers together. If their number appears in a circle they can cross it out. If it does not, they wait until it is their turn again to try their luck.
I laminate copies and have students use whiteboard markers to cross out numbers.
You can use counters for students who are not yet ready for mental math strategies.
Cards for numbers 1-10, used to strengthen number knowledge in addition and subtraction.
I have the answer on the back on a sticker so I can pair students off to use as flash cards.
