I use this in my Harry Potter 5th Grade Math Unit at the end of the year as a review. However, it can be used as a stand alone lesson for Adding and Subtracting with Fractions of unlike denominators and Converting Metric Units of Capacity.
You do need additional materials for this lesson (list included in materials) to create the "potions"

This activity could be used as a station or as a stand-alone quick review activity. It focuses on using length, width and height to calculate the volume of a rectangular prism. It also incorporates an optional base area x height to find the volume. Students then compare their calculations to group members' rectangular prisms (created with cubes or legos, not provided in this product). Recording sheet and directions sheet are provided.
