This is a very explicit lesson for students to teach them how to summarize. It uses the acronym "MIDAS" to help students remember exactly how to summarize. It also models how to summarize using a nonfiction text. The final slides teach the difference between direct quotations and paraphrasing in summaries. Great for new Common Core standards!
