Zoo Project - Area and Perimeter! (Editable)
This is an independent activity where students create a blue print for a zoo. They decide which animal exhibits they'd like to include, and then provide the area and perimeter of each exhibit. While the project includes all materials to complete on paper, I had my students turn it into a PowerPoint presentation. They LOVED it! Includes: -Instructions -Blueprint page -Dimension recording sheet -Examples -Rubric to grade On top of that, it is editable! Have fun!

Time Assessment Packet
This is a packet that includes 5 formative assessments on telling time and 1 summative assessment on time. Assessments include:
-time to the nearest hour
-time to the nearest half hour
-time to the nearest 5 minutes
-AM or PM?
-reading a digital clock
-summative assessment including all of the above

Leveled Money Packet (coin identification and problem solving)
This packet includes a poster with coin identification (penny, nickel, dime, quarter) to review the amounts of each coin, counting coins activities (under and over one dollar), leveled problem solving/word problem activities (exact second grade standard), and a summative assessment to assess the complete common core standard.

Time Check! Interactive way to assess telling time (in real time). Leveled!
This includes "time check" sheets to be taped on each student's desk. It also includes a "TIME CHECK!" sign that the teacher will use to check time at intervals throughout the day. It controls individual student progress with coloring in a smiley face every time they get it right. (I make my students write it in pen). ;)
Mine turn in their time checks on Fridays to see how they did, but you can have them turn it in at the end of each day. I let mine get a quick treat if they have 90% or above

This is a packet of 5 independent practices (whole sheet, can be used as front and back, as well as matching homework). It includes number line, part-part-whole, explaining through writing, and basic computation.

As we know, Common Core has many types of Word Problems needing to be taught and assessed. I have the *result* unknown portion of the unit. The result is the sum or difference in an equation.
Example problems include:
There are 7 apples and 9 bananas in the bucket. How many bananas are there altogether?
7 + 9 = ?
And
Mario has 11 baseball cards. He gave 6 away. How many does he still have?
11 - 6 = ?

Experience

I am a dedicated elementary school teacher with a passion for inquiry based learning. I believe in reading and writing across the curriculum with the integration of multiple subjects to create a flexible, innovative classroom environment. Success is found when students learn through exploration and each other by creating a comfortable, welcoming setting that encourages discussion and higher level thinking. Mathematics is my passion as well as my area of strength. I am hard working and trusted and I believe collaboration, feedback, and reflection is the key to professional growth and achievement.
