Student daily objective learning target bell work reflection metacognition
This is my favorite way to keep the start and end of class routines predictable and effective, and to incorporate metacognitive reflection by students. I create one of these forms for each week (or sometimes 1 form for two weeks). Students know that when they come in to the room, they get out their daily objective form, fill in the daily objective from the board, give their reflection score (1 - 5) for how comfortable they are with the daily objective, and then complete the bell work or the "d

Hello and welcome to my store! This page is an item I use with my students to reinforce the basic materials they need to know about the structure of an atom and from the periodic table. I find that by having students repeat the information, they retain and recall the information well and perform well on their assessment. In addition, students who complete this practice page are able to apply their understanding to elements that I select from the periodic table. I use this for basic review -

This pass gives my students peace of mind - but they also know that they only get one per term. This pass allows me to be strict on my late work and assessment policies, but also gives me a chance to show a little mercy for those times that we all have (students included) when they just don't quite have it together in time for an important quiz, project, assignment, due date, etc. It doesn't get them out of the work, just provides a little flexibility for those times when life happens. Additional biographical information
I love to see students engaged in science! The best "pay" for me as a teacher is when a student tells me something to the effect of, "I never realized before how interesting science is. I love science!" I love "ah ha" moments, times when the proverbial light bulb turns on - and it is visible in the facial expressions of my students. I also really enjoy working with students who have disabilities or who are twice exceptional.
