I use this as guided notes while students watch a YouTube video introducing and explaining the concept of taxes in the United States. The video is linked on the document and is focused on teaching young adults about taxes.
I use this in the very first unit of my 8th grade math class. We are focusing on writing about mathematics and this is a support that I have seen a lot of student growth from. Students are first given time to solve the problem with pencil and paper. Then we check it as a class. Next I show the students my example (which is the file attached).
