In this activity, students count the perimeter and area of rectilinear shapes resembling Minecraft characters! The first picture is of a Creeper and the second is a wolf. Students can design their own picture in the space provided and then count the area and perimeter. This allows students to be creative while also holding them accountable for the math behind the art.
Capture students' attention with high-interest math practice! Perfect for homework, a Do-Now, or as an extension activity
This sheet allows students to practice subtracting 3-digit numbers with regrouping while keeping each place lined up on graph paper. Some problems will not need regrouping. Two problems are included where students have to borrow across a zero in the tens place. The last problem is a word problem where the students set up the subtraction problem themselves and then solve.

Students learn about the tallest Lego tower, the largest Lego car, and the longest Lego chain ever built in this activity which reinforces place value concepts! Students have to convert numbers from standard form to written form and back. They must add to figure out the total number of hours that it took to design and build the largest Lego car. They determine which number is in the ones, hundreds, and thousands place. Finally they must tell which of the three record-breaking creations used
This activity allows students to practice finding the perimeter and area when the interior lines can't be seen. These types of questions are common on standardized tests where students have to estimate or imagine that the lines are there in order to count the area accurately. The second page can be printed double-sided so that students who finish early have a challenge. The challenge is to draw different variations of rectangles that all have a perimeter of 24, then to determine which one has
In this activity, students practice counting perimeter and area of shapes that use all right-angles. After finding the perimeter and area of each shape, match the number with the corresponding letter at the bottom to find the answer to the riddle! The riddle: "What do arctic hares use to keep their fur fluffy?" Answer: "Hare spray!"

Students review skills learned by counting coins to determine a total, and then adding to or subtracting from that amount to find a new total. The first page is scaffolded so that the first problem has the coins in order from greatest value to least value, and the grid is set up with a + sign to show students what to do with the two numbers from the problem. The second problem has the coins out of order, but uses a minus sign on the grid to prompt students. The third and fourth problems use m
Combine the math skills of perimeter and area with the creative design and fun of pixel art! Students create a scene with a tree, house, and car. The tree needs to have an area of 30 and the house an area of 70. After drawing the tree and house with the correct areas, students count the perimeter of each. Finally, they can design a car and count the perimeter and area. Great activity for practicing measurement skills while allowing for academic choice.
