This hands-on and engaging cut and paste activity requires students to colour the direct speech words in one colour and the speech marks in another colour. Visually, this helps students to see where the speech marks and other punctuation get placed within a sentence, in relation to what is being directly spoken.
After explicitly teaching this concept to students, this activity becomes a good task to assess whether students have grasped the concept of speech marks and punctuation placement.

These worksheets work well to teach and instruct students on how to implement the Jump Strategy and Split Strategy when adding and subtracting 2-digit numbers, without regrouping. It also includes a self reflection on how students feel they went with the task and this can be used to inform yourself on the individuals that require further teaching on the topic.
Teaching students to represent whole numbers in a variety of ways, is integral in assisting them in developing solid place value understandings.
Included in this PDF are 2 differentiated tasks.
The first page focuses on 2-digit numbers. Students follow the given example to complete the remainder of the activity sheet; working towards representing two digit numbers as tens and ones, in written form, diagram using MABs and expanded notation sum.
The second page focuses on 3-digit numbers with
This report writing framework is useful to assist students in note-taking using key words when conducting their research, instead of copying down sentences straight from their sources. I also have a report rubric ready for the teacher to mark their reports with. I hope you find this resource useful! I am currently using it with my Year 3 class.
This is a report rubric I have used successfully within my Year 3 classroom. It can be adapted for older students as well. You can use this at A4 size and highlight the relevant achievements, or I like to reduce it to A5 size and staple it to each child's project. It can also be used as a self reflection for the child to complete prior to submitting their report.
As I'm new to this, I'm not sure how to add another file, in order to acknowledge who I got the border from, so I hope it's OK to p
This is a great cut and paste activity for junior students to ascertain their understanding of not only the value of whole numbers, but their understanding and correct use of the symbols which represent greater than and less than.
I have included a page of 2-digit numbers, as well as 3-digit numbers - great for differentiating between students.
After a mat session, I send students back to desks to complete their cut and paste activity which I have enlarged to A3 size for ease. On the line bel
Classroom jobs chart with a printable title. I usually laminate them for durability and then type up the student names, laminate them, cut them out and blu-tac them on to the chart, so it is easy to rotate the students around the jobs each day/week.
This is a skip counting practice task for students to practise at home, under the guidance and support of their parents.
I photocopy both pages so it is double-sided and send it home at the beginning of the year. There is no time limit and parents date and sign when their child can successfully skip count each stage by memory. It is then returned to school.
The first page mentions the importance of skip counting for Year 3s. I have also included the same page with mention of skip counting for
A compilation of spelling journal activities that students can complete daily to consolidate learning of new spelling words. Activities include:

Students cut out each of the verbs and sort them into present and past tense. They then match the correct present tense verb with its past tense verb and glue in the table. I enlarge this to A3 onto coloured card and copy the cut out verbs onto a contrasting colour and this looks effective hanging up in the classroom.
I have also gotten children to pick 2x pairs of verb tenses and use them in sentences so they are also having a go at applying what they've learned into their writing. You ca
Adding money can be tricky for students if they don't have solid mental calculation skills. One way to make it easier for students, is to show them that simply by breaking down coin amounts into multiples of 10c, they can add totals together by simply skip counting by 10s!
My Year 2 students love this activity as it is broken down in simple terms for them. Extension to this activity can be showing students the correlation between cents and dollars. For example, if they skip count the box amo
Print these test sheets double-sided for students to write the words on during each test. It becomes a great record to keep and I take any misspelt words from each test, compile them in a list and send them home with each child as an individualized spelling intervention program for homework. I then use the spelling activities printed on stars (a separate document of mine which can be found here - http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Spelling-Journal-activities-on-stars-730955 ), as activ
I use these Spelling Maps with my class regularly and they just LOVE doing the activities! It's a great way for them to learn their spelling words, with a range of activities including:

Ladybird Vowels (a great activity for vowel letter consolidation)
I photo copy the pages back-to-back and then enlarg
