The Pearl by John Steinbeck Chapter Three Fun Analysis Poster Assignment

This is a wonderful assignment that I use in class. The students work in groups to answer questions about some of the characters in chapter three of The Pearl. Then, the students take the information they wrote and create a poster symbolic of the warning they would provide Kino and Juana. The Unbroken movie and the text have many differences and thus provide a great opportunity to compare the movie to the text. I have divided the movie into three sections (each for a 50-55 minute class period viewing) and each section has a set of questions that accompany it. The Pearl by John Steinbeck Chapter Two Reading Quiz

There are four separate reading quizzes in this download. I use all four in the same class period to reduce the chances of copying answers. The quiz is a quote from the chapter and the students are required to explain what is happening at that point in the book. I use this quiz as a reading check.
