I am currently an instructional coach for middle school mathematics! I taught 7th-grade math for 9 years and have been in my current role for 4. I love mathematics and love to see students excited to learn math! These resources are my creations and things that I have done over the years!
This page is a fun way for students to practice Order of Operations. It is also 'self-checking'. If a student solves a problem, and the correct answer does not appear, they know they have made a mistake.
I use this in a few different ways. In class, students each recieve a worksheet (I also allow them to work in partners on occasion.) They cut out the puzzle, work the problems, and glue their completed product down on a piece of construction paper (It makes a square.)
I also use this for a fi
I've been working on this resource for quite some time! It includes EVERYTHING that it takes for me to to use an interactive journal with my students!! This is literally a FULL YEAR worth of resources that I've created! You'll see a PDF scan of the WHOLE journal. That includes the "open notes" that I copy for my students with IEPs and "Copy of Notes" and then you'll see the filled in notes page that I use as I actually teach each lesson with my students! You'll get a PDF of each page, a PDF of
This activity is a fun way to practice adding integers. Also, it comes with an integer activity board that could be used to practice any operation with integers.
I laminated a class set of the integer alphabet cards to keep in my filing cabinet. Students can use dry erase markers on the laminated copies during class.
Also included is an activitiy sheet. Students find the numerical value of things like their first name, last name, favorite subject and so on by adding the value of each letter.
This is a worksheet designed to help students understand ratios. It is a great way for students to practice writing ratios, simplifying ratios, and writing equivalent ratios. Students fill in the chart by writing the original (unsimplified) ratio for the sports equipment. In the "What'd you do?" column, they tell what they did to simplify the ratio. Then, in the "Simplified Ratio" column, they write the ratio in simplest terms. In the bottom section, they write the simplified ratio, and then the
This specific loop puzzle has 10 questions over adding and subtracting decimals. Most of them are word problems, with a few being straight concept questions.
What is a loop puzzle? Traditionally they are called "I have, Who has?" but I use my puzzles as a class activity in the hallway. I print out the papers, put them up on the walls, and have students work through them alone or with a partner. Students start out by choosing a problem at the bottom of a random sheet, and working that problem.

The main download is a file that is 24inx36in. I took this to my local Office Supply store and had them print it out for me.
What a perfect calendar to go along with your Zebra Print Classroom!
It is large enough to laminate, and then use in your classroom to write important dates.
The 'Preview' download is an 8.5x11 copy of the blank calendar.
Being familiar with divisibility is SO important in a middle school math classroom.
Use this printable to make a poster to hang in your classroom. There are 2 different color choices.
*The first page does not include the full rule for 7 (I believe it is easier for students to just divide by 7.) The second page has the actual rule. Use whichever you like!* :)
Simply take the file to your local office supply store and have them print it out. The file is 24in x 24 in. You can resize if necess

With these numbers, you can create a 'Sudoku' bulletin board. I printed 9 sets to make sure I would have enough to complete the whole board. The letters are a perfect fit for the 'Sudoku Squares' that you should print 12inches x 12inches .
You will also need the 'Sudoku Squares' which is a free download.
Simply print the Sudoku Squares at 12x12 (at your local office supply store). The dimensions should come up automatically. You will need 9
Students will read through "LIFE" scenarios in this activity and decide which things are financial Assets and which are Liabilities. There are 4 different scenarios for them to read, make a assets and liabilities list, and then calculate net worth. My students really enjoyed this activity because it has a very "real life" feel about it!
This download includes all 4 scenarios and a 2 page recording sheet.
These cards can be used in many different ways.
Print them out and laminate them to have a set to use in class.
SPOONS:
Remember the classic card game, "Spoons"? Use these cards to review fraction, decimal, percent equivalancies while playing a fun card game. In Spoons, a group of students (usually 4) are delt 3 cards [in the original game it is 4 cards because there are 4 suits]. The point of the game is to get 3 of a kind. First - you need spoons (One less than the number of students playi
In 7th grade, we use the rule "Keep Change Flip" to help our students remember how to subtract integers and divide fractions.
I have created a poster in my classroom out of a brown paper bag that hangs 3D off of my wall with the 'K: Keep, C:Change, F:Flip" glued on the front. Then, on one side, I put the rules for dividing fractions. On the other, I put the rules for subtracting integers.
I use chicken, because it reminds them of Kentucky fried chicken.
Also included are some 'blank' chicken
This printout is a description of my classroom economy system. I get checkbook registers at the beginning of the school year, and then students use them throughout the year to document happenings in class. When they follow the rules and procedures or make good grades, they get 'bonuses.' When they do not follow expectations, etc, debits are taken from their register. Every so often, students can use their 'money' to buy trinkets, or 'passes' (which are available in another download).

This I Have Who Has is a great way to review absolute value, integer word forms, and adding/subtracting with integers.
How I use it in my classroom:
I print out the pages on card-stock and laminate. I use this activity as a whole class activity. In the past, I've found that when you do "I have, Who has" with each student only getting one card they disengage the minute they are finished with their card. This way each student works through ALL the problems.
I have students get in pairs. I pos
This activity has 4 questions and can be used as a warm up or exit ticket. I used this as part of a Project Based Learning unit I did with my students over coordinate graphing. There are 4 to each page.
I use this with my classes as a review for Central Tendency. Students work in groups of 4, and find the mean, median, mode and range of different things. Activities include finding the central tendency of the height of their group, and finding central tendency for a week weather forecast. Students enjoy this activity because it uses real data that they find in class.
This resource is a PDF File with 9 Crossword Puzzles created for student use! I have students complete these at the beginning of each unit and place them in their interactive journal. We reference them throughout the unit and students are expected to use the academic vocabulary in daily conversations. All answer keys are also included. Units are as follows: Unit 1: Rational numbers and operations Unit 2: Two-Step Equations and Inequalities Unit 3: Proportionality Unit 4: Graphs and Two-Variable
This is a PDF copy of the journal page that I use with my students when teaching Adding Integers. It is used within my lesson as we discuss how to solve problems. Included you will find 1 page that is an "open notes" page. I give copies of this page to students who have accommodations, or that benefit from having a copy of the notes. There are spaces to fill in and then they work the examples as well Second, you will find the page that is "completed". This is what my journal page looks like AF
This is a fun activity that I use with my 7th grade students. I allow them to work in a group and then they find the percentage for each question. Questions include things like, "What percent of students in our class play football?" Remember, these are for junior high students, so the age in one of the questions says 13. If you need to change that, when you print it, just simply white it out and write in whatever age meets your students need.
Also, the last question says, "What percent of ceil
This Loop Puzzle consists of 15 questions that have to do with a combining like terms. (Ex: 5xy + (-3xy) + 2b - 9b).
I run my Loop Puzzles in the hallway and have each student work through the whole thing. They start at any page by scanning the QR code which gives them the question. They then work the question and get an answer. When they have an answer, they then go to look for that answer around the hallway. When they find it, they scan the QR code on that page and start the process again. It
This activity is a way for students to practice finding equivalent number forms. There are 3 columns labeled Fraction, Decimal, and Percent. Students are given 1 value and must find the others using what they know about equivalent number forms.
