I am currently an instructional coach for middle school mathematics! I taught 7th-grade math for 9 years and have been in my current role for 4. I love mathematics and love to see students excited to learn math! These resources are my creations and things that I have done over the years!
This activity is a fun way to practice adding integers. Also, it comes with an integer activity board that could be used to practice any operation with integers.
I laminated a class set of the integer alphabet cards to keep in my filing cabinet. Students can use dry erase markers on the laminated copies during class.
Also included is an activitiy sheet. Students find the numerical value of things like their first name, last name, favorite subject and so on by adding the value of each letter.
This is a worksheet designed to help students understand ratios. It is a great way for students to practice writing ratios, simplifying ratios, and writing equivalent ratios. Students fill in the chart by writing the original (unsimplified) ratio for the sports equipment. In the "What'd you do?" column, they tell what they did to simplify the ratio. Then, in the "Simplified Ratio" column, they write the ratio in simplest terms. In the bottom section, they write the simplified ratio, and then the
This resource is a PDF File with 9 Crossword Puzzles created for student use! I have students complete these at the beginning of each unit and place them in their interactive journal. We reference them throughout the unit and students are expected to use the academic vocabulary in daily conversations. All answer keys are also included. Units are as follows: Unit 1: Rational numbers and operations Unit 2: Two-Step Equations and Inequalities Unit 3: Proportionality Unit 4: Graphs and Two-Variable
This activity is a way for students to practice finding equivalent number forms. There are 3 columns labeled Fraction, Decimal, and Percent. Students are given 1 value and must find the others using what they know about equivalent number forms.
I use this activity with my 7th graders in stations. Each station is a different item that I purchase from the store. They must use a proportion to calculate the unit rate of each item. For example: 2 pack of glue sticks vs. 8 pack of glue sticks. Whichever item is the "better buy" they circle the title of that item. When preparing for this activity, I go to the store and take pictures of each item that I purchase. I then make sure that they have the prices of each. I usually spend 2 days on
Each year, I label my desks using letters. Each group is a different color. Just copy this sheet on different color paper (depending on how many groups you have) Then cut them out and tape them on your desk using clear packing tape.
This is a great way to make sure your classroom runs smoothly. I give each letter a 'job' such as paper collector, materials, etc. When a student sits at that desk, they know they are to do that job.
