Google sheets reveal pixel art. Students write names and formulas of ionic compounds including transition metals and polyatomic ions to reveal a picture. As they correctly answer the questions, a picture is revealed. I have included subscripts for the students to copy and paste into the formulas, however, the picture will show up using normal numbers. The answer squares also turn green so the students know their answers are correct. Great for distance learning!! My students LOVE these!!
Google sheets reveal pixel art. Students balance 15 chemical equations and classify types of reactions to reveal a picture. As they correctly answer the questions, a picture is revealed. The coefficients should be separated by a comma and no spaces. For the types of reactions they are S, D, C, SR and DR. The answer squares also turn green so the students know their answers are correct. Great for distance learning!! My students LOVE these!!
Google sheets reveal pixel art. Students write names and formulas of ionic and covalent compounds including transition metals and polyatomic ions to reveal a picture. As they correctly answer the questions, a picture is revealed. I have included subscripts for the students to copy and paste into the formulas, however, the picture will show up using normal numbers. The answer squares also turn green so the students know their answers are correct. Great for distance learning!! My students LOVE the
I LOVE this lab!! It is such a practical application of chemistry. The lotion doesn't always come out the best but my students LOVE it and never forget it!! Plus every year my new students come into class and ask "are we going to make lotion and chapstick??" This can be done as an inquiry lesson (which would mean closer to an hour and a half) or it can be done as a regular density/emulsion lesson. It does require some extra preparation because the ingredients need to be ordered from bulk apot
Google sheets reveal pixel art. Students predict the products, balance equations, and classify types of reactions on 10 different problems. As they correctly answer the questions, a picture is revealed. The products and the coefficients are separate and turn green when the students are correct. This is a perfect way for providing immediate feedback!! The types of reactions are abbreviated and are S, D, C, SR and DR. Also, They will need to put in the 1s as coefficients. Great for distance learni
This is one of my FAVORITE labs!!!! (and the students) They use percent composition to calculate how much of each ingredient is needed to make a chapstick that is moisturizing, a good consistency, and smells good. However, this lab does require planning ahead, as the ingredients are ordered from bulk apothecary. My students come back year after year and ask if they can get more chapstick, as I often hoard the extras!! I have included the actual calculations for groups of 3 or 4. I set up one
A whimsically colorful metric conversion poster using King Henry Died by drinking chocolate milk. The file included is an 8.5 x 11" jpeg. The poster includes prefixes Kilo, Hecto, Deca, base, deci centi and milli along with their meaning and pneumonic device.
Google sheets reveal pixel art. Students must determine the number of significant figures and perform calculations with the correct sig figs to reveal a picture. The calculations include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. As they correctly answer the problems, a picture is revealed. The answer squares also turn green so the students know their calculations are correct. Great for distance learning!! My students LOVE these!!!
Triangle equation sheet for physical science. It includes the equations for speed, velocity, momentum, force, acceleration, weight, potential energy and kinetic energy. The SI units are included for the variable being solved for. The font I used is from Hello Literacy. It is a free download called Hello Fonts.
Google sheets reveal pixel art. Students solve 15 conversions to and from scientific notation to reveal a picture. As they correctly answer the problems, a picture is revealed. The answer squares also turn green so the students know their answers are correct. I have included superscripts for the students to copy and paste into the formulas, however, the picture will show up using normal numbers. (except the negative sign) Great for distance learning!! My students LOVE these!!
This worksheet is mole conversions including grams and molecules. I have included the answers at the bottom of the worksheet. I began doing this several years ago because it allowed my students to know whether or not they were doing the problems correctly. I know in chemistry that can be a struggle. I did not want my students going home and "googling" chemistry, so I found a way to provide them with immediate feedback. The immediate feedback also makes this great for DISTANCE LEARNING!!! Tea
Google sheets reveal pixel art. Students solve 12 mole, gram, atom/mlc calculations to reveal a picture. As they correctly answer the problems, a picture is revealed. The answer squares also turn green so the students know their calculations are correct. I have included superscripts for the students to copy and paste into the formulas, however, the picture will show up using normal numbers. (except the negative sign) Great for distance learning!! This is a digital version of a card sort I typically do with my students for types of bonds. It includes ionic, covalent and metallic bonds. I made the different categories (how they are formed, types of elements, examples, etc.) different colors so the students know that each category gets one of each color. Great for review, interactive, and PERFECT FOR DISTANCE LEARNING!! Link to answer key included. I have found that copying and pasting the links into your web browser works best.
An interactive Google Slides activity to teach balancing chemical equations. The reactants and products are on individual cards that can be manipulated. In addition, they are color-coded to show the difference between elements and show which element has the subscript. The coefficients are also on individual cards to be placed within the equation. GREAT FOR DISTANCE LEARNING!! I have found that copying and pasting the links into your web browser works best.
This is a digital version of a card sort I typically do with my students for alpha, beta, and gamma nuclear decay. I made the different categories (examples, particles emitted, etc) different colors so the students know that each category gets one of each color (except beta is missing one of the pink boxes. Great for review, interactive, and PERFECT FOR DISTANCE LEARNING!! Link to answer key included. I have found that copying and pasting the links into your web browser works best.
Google sheets reveal pixel art. Students solve 10 mole to gram (and vice versa) calculations to reveal a picture. As they correctly answer the problems, a picture is revealed. The answer squares also turn green so the students know their calculations are correct. Great for distance learning!! My students LOVE these!!
I created this jamboard because most most my students had already learned the scientific method by the time they got to me. The jamboard allowed me to assess what my students already knew about the scientific method. This also allowed me to focus more on students that were not as familiar with the scientific method. The yellow sticky notes get placed first and describe the steps of the scientific method. Once these are placed correctly, the students fill in the pink sticky notes under the st
This worksheet is a density worksheet and includes a metric conversion. I have included the answers at the bottom of the worksheet. I did not want my students going home and "googling" chemistry, so I found a way to provide them with immediate feedback. The immediate feedback also makes this great for DISTANCE LEARNING!!! T
This worksheet is a combination of metric conversions (using dimensional analysis) and scientific notation including calculations. The imm
I created this assignment to use as a pair-share to teach about the dangers of mercury and CFLs. I designed the lesson to have a student read one article and answer the questions about it, and then they find someone who read the other article and talk to them about it. I selected these articles because I feel they are very straightforward and easy to read.
