This practice contains binary ionic (with and without variable charges), ternary ionic (with and without variable charges), inorganic acids, and binary covalent compounds all sectioned out. I use this practice as I teach each type of naming system and sometimes as a review. It can be a great tool after a formative assessment for students to practice just the type of system they need more help with. Included is the PDF of the worksheet and the Microsoft PowerPoint version (if you want to make an

This activity has 40 cards to be printed and laminated (recommended) for student review on 1) identification of elements using atomic numbers, 2) constructing nuclear symbols, 3) writing isotope notation, and 4) calculation of ionic charge and mass numbers for a variety of elements. Student answer sheet and answer key is included. Two blank cards are included at the end. Works great as a gallery walk- students will need a copy of the periodic table and clipboard or notebook to write on. Ideas

Chemistrying
This is a revised and updated product listing for the previous worksheet that just covered %Comp, EF, and MF. I use this primarily in my honors chemistry class when practicing percent composition, empirical and molecular formulas, as well as EF of hydrates with percent hydration. I did include an answer sheet with the answers only. I will update listing to include the work as a separate handout (in case you want the kids to have answers only or have work to help them).

Stoichiometry PowerPoint & Practice

Created by
Chemistrying
This resource includes my Stoichiometry PowerPoint and the In-Class Practice packet of problems to go along with the PPT. The PPT includes slides with a couple of each type of problem. Then, the practice packet has a couple for the students to do on their own. The In-Class Practice packet is the one I use with my Honors class. I will be creating a similar resource with the practice packet I use with my On-Level chemistry students. Answer key with problems done out is included.

I use this to provide examples as I teach the unit on Stoichiometry. It covers 1 step mole ratio problems, adding in a step each page until they get to mass-mass conversions. It includes limiting reactants, theoretical yield and percent yield problems. This is my HONORS version- It allows them to review predicting products and balancing equations for the last few of each type of conversion. If you would like the regular version (where they just have to balance- please see that listing- or wri

There are 5 lab scenarios providing students with amounts of reactants and actual mass of product. Students will need to write and balance the chemical equation, determine limiting reactant for the reactions, calculate theoretical yield, and finally calculate the percent yield. Answer key is provided.

Empirical Formula Lab Scenarios

This activity includes 4 lab scenarios for empirical formulas, as well as, 4 lab scenarios for hydrated compounds. While I tried to make the math come out straight forward, I did not use common compound ratios, especially for the hydrates (in hopes to eliminate googling of answers). I numbered the problems separately so they can be used separately, but did include the word document for easy editing. An answer key is also included for all 8 problems. Save paper and only print pages 2-5 for the k

This handout has 3 examples of each type of problem for stoichiometry- from using mole ratios to determining the limiting reactant. Answer key, with work shown, is provided. Learning targets are listed for the students to use as a self-check, as well as a vocabulary list. Learning Targets: I can determine the mole ratio from a balanced chemical equation. I can use the mole ratio to explain simple mole to mole conversions. I can formulate a plan to convert between mass of one substance and mas

I use this packet to provide examples and practice as I teach through the unit. It can also be provided as homework after each day in class. It ranges from avogadro's number conversions, molar mass conversions, molar volume conversions, percent composition, empirical formulas, and molecular formulas. It is, as I like to call it, "baby-stepped" throughout the packet- building on simple concepts and conversions to more complex.
