This is always a challenging topic for Calculus students. My approach is to introduce the definition, draw a picture of the definition and then have the students work through this worksheet. The worksheet starts by asking students to find values of delta for given values of epsilon using a linear function. This worksheet asks the student to graph a piecewise function in four pieces. The function includes linear and quadratic equations and has discontinuity. The students are then asked to find five different limits including a limit from the right and the limit as x approaches a value not shown on the graph.
