I love using this lesson to teach my students about block letters and to introduce modern and diverse artists to my students. I use a couple of techniques to teach them to write block letters/their own names in Graffiti letters. I show a video and pause it after every step, I have a step-by-step poster that is displayed next to the video, and I follow along with the steps on my whiteboard.
This is my intro to the color wheel. I read my students “Mixed” by Arree Chung. This children’s book talks about the primary colors mixing. We then go on to explain and talk about the Color Wheel and why the primary colors and secondary colors are placed on the Color Wheel the way that they are. My students love reading a book along with the activity. The book along with my lesson instructions help students connect primary and secondary colors with prior knowledge to mixing colors.

This is a great lesson to go over homonyms for all students. There are 20 slides with 2-3 examples for 20 different words as well as a worksheet for all words that uses the same images as the slides. This is a great way to "trick" your students into thinking they are playing a game, but really they are practicing repeatedly writing their phonics. This can either be done in competition or not. Students will get in partners or a group. They will each have their own die. Whatever number they roll, they have to write that site word in one box below. They will keep rolling and writing down all the words one at a time. The objective is to fill up all of the boxes first.
