This packet covers the essential information about Virginia's Native Americans from the VS.2 standard. Includes charts, matching, fill-in-the-blank with word banks, and writing. Large vocabulary focus and seasons focus. Aligns with VA's 4th grade Virginia Studies standards. I used this during an independent small group reading rotation during my VS.2 unit. Great as an independent practice after students have learned the material. Could also be used as a study guide.
This activity includes 3 sorts for rounding whole numbers. The target rounding sheet works for all three sorts. The first sort has students rounding to the thousands place, the second sort has students rounding to the ten thousands place, and the third sort has students rounding to the hundred thousands place. Students sort if it rounds to the target number or not. Numbers go up to the millions and hundred thousands to align with VA 4th grade SOL standards.
I used this sort with a small group to remediate misconceptions around units of measure with US Customary and Metric. We first color coded the vocabulary by length, weight/mass, and volume, and then looked for key words to help us identify which unit of measure words we needed to pick from.
I used this resource with a remediation group. Students were required to justify with answer using a strategy such as a number line, benchmarks, or finding common denominators.
This question is designed to look like a Virginia 4th Grade SOL Math question where students "click and drag" the correct place value name to the matching digit. Students write the correct name beside the corresponding digit. Every value is included from the Millions place to the Thousandths place. Great for review. Room is left at the bottom for students to draw their own place value chart. (only 1 question)
This graphic organizer is for marine organism research. It aligns to 4th grade VA SOLs. Students select an organism and research to discover the type of organism, where the organism can be found in the ocean (depth/zone), organism's niche, and a food chain for the organism.
This activity is great for morning work, morning meeting, community building, or for your fractions unit! Student pick words to describe themselves and say what fraction of themselves that word is. They pick a color, fill in their key, and shade that amount of their fraction circle. For example: I am 2/8 kind. Students are provided a word bank, but I also encouraged students to come up with their own words!
This target rounding activity includes two sets. Students cut and sort the decimals under the categories: Rounds to my target number and Does not round to my target number. Great for guided practice or independent practice. Both of the sets round to the nearest whole and include decimals that go to the thousandths place. Based on Virginia 4th grade SOLs.
This packet has pages full of problems that progressively get harder. It starts with 2 by 1 problems, then 3 by 1, then 2 by 2. Students first solve using the box method (array method) and then the algorithm. This allows them to compare the two and check their work. I used this for independent practice, and it was very helpful for my students.

For this lesson students discuss how an organism's niche will change based on how the organism changes over time. Students compare and contrast the niche of a tadpole and frog, as well as a caterpillar and butterfly. Leads to great conversation about what niche means and how an organism's niche will change throughout its life. Based on 4th grade VA SOLs.
For this JIGSAW activity, I assigned students a plant part (stem, roots, or leaves) to read about with a partner. Students then came together with two other groups and shared what they learned about their assigned plant part. Works well with any plant parts articles.
This Independent Multiplication activity is a blast, and gets students moving around the room. The worksheet has 3 multiplication problems located on the snowman. One 2 by 2, and two 3 by 2. Students solve each problem using the box method and algorithm. When they finish solving one, they go find the answer that you have placed somewhere in the room. If they get it correct, they shade in the corresponding scarf piece. If they get it wrong, they go back and try again until they get it right. Once
This product includes 22 word problems that align to VA 4th grade standards. The problems are single and multistep. They include addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
