Students are asked to abstract certain information from the shown real life graph. For instance, identify the y-intercept but also be able to express what it actually means. There is a great deal of writing with this activity as many students are usually able to find the y-intercept and slope, but have no real sense of meaning behind it. This activity will help students make those connections.
Students look to abstract linear equations based off of the graphs shown. They will be using real life situations. It will help students make the connections that the slope is in fact a ratio, that can be found using a coordinate point.
Students will analyze other students' work. Students will be able to identify other student's misconceptions along with practicing the problems and identifying the correct answer.
