Constructing Math Sense

Through a series of progressive, scaffolded worksheets students practice identifying angles by name, classifying angles as acute, right, and obtuse, and finally measuring angles with a protractor. When measuring angles, students are cued to answer questions about the angle in order to read the correct numbers on the protractor. Students use the computer to categorize and classify quadrilaterals. There are 3 sets of activities for students to complete. 1st they discover the traits of each type of quadrilateral. 2nd they select shapes that are a certain type of quadrilateral. 3rd they answer questions about the classification of quadrilaterals. To do these activities students sort shapes by simply clicking and dragging on shapes or phrases.

This is a computer activity on a WORD document for students to learn to subtract fractions and mixed numbers with and without regrouping and renaming. Students will use virtual manipulatives and the subtraction algorithm to learn how and why the steps involved in calculating with the algorithm lead to a difference. The activities are chunked, scaffolded, and use gradual release methods to help students acquire the skills.
