I love using this at the beginning of the school year! It's also a product to leave for a sub! The kids use the lines on the paper to create their own drawing! I then have them share with their classmates! A great way to get them talking and sharing!

Spin a story! A great resource for reading centers! Low prep! Use your pencil to spin a paper clip, and select different story elements. Use the story elements you spun to write a story! Included are two boards, one with fantasy choices, and one with realistic fiction choices. I also included a blank board! I might give the blank ones to students and let them create their own board! A t the beginning of the year I love to get my students as excited about reading as possible. I love to do a book tasting the first week. A book tasting is a way to give your students a “taste” of what books are in your classroom. STEAM activities are often reserved for Math and Science, but they can be integrated into ELA easily! These are task cards that I use at my ELA centers. These cards work with any book. All can be completed with a partner, and most can also be completed individually. I have split the cards into 4 categories: with Apps, with robots (some will need devices to control), a blend of technology, and unplugged. All of the apps I recommend work on iPads and are free!

Point of view is my favorite skills to teach! Hands down! It is such an important comprehension skill that is built upon in higher grades. Being able to tell that two characters feel differently about an issue can be tricky, especially when the students have to separate out their point of view as well. But with quality literature, it’s much more enjoyable for everyone! This product includes 4 mini lessons, 2 response sheets, and a link to a google slides presentation.

One of my goals at the beginning of the year is to instill a love for reading in my kiddos. One way I try to do this is by showing them that we can read in many different ways besides sitting alone with a book. One of my first lessons is on partner reading! These posters will remind your students to use metacognitive strategies as they work by connecting the strategies to animals! These are based on CALLA lessons for ESL students, but are great for all students!

Let your students practice learning the continents in a hands on way that also lets them practice coding/ driving robots. These cards are clues that prompt your students as to where to drive their robot on a map on the ground.

These posters have hand signals to match with the Whole Brain Teaching Rules. I teach the rules and then use the hand signals as silent reminders for my students. Great for back to school as you introduce the rules in your classroom!
