Create a fraction caterpillar! This wonderful math activity for primary students provides a visual model for fractions. Students use sticker dots (or colored circle of another type-be creative!) to make a caterpillar. I've sometimes added wiggly eyes and pipe cleaner antennae to make it fun! An end-of-the-year fun activity! Students will create a glyph in the form of a delicious bowl of ice cream. This glyph is perfect for primary grades but can be adapted to kindergarten or preschool.

Find 3 items that can be measured for their LENGTH, WIDTH, or VOLUME! This is a great homework activity for elementary school students. It's far more exciting and interactive than a measurement worksheet. Students will search around their homes and record on the attached sheet 3 items they have discovered. This project can be easily adapted to an in-class activity where students search the school for items with recorded measurements.

Create a reference chart with your students to review the properties of addition: Commutative, Identity & Associative. Students fill in a 3 column chart with examples of each.

This 3 column KWL Chart (What I KNOW, What I WANT to Know and What I LEARNED) is reproducible for students. It could go in a science binder or be used alongside another curriculum unit.
