For this game, students create a fictitious $2,000 budget to live on and then play a board game using that budget to simulate living within a budget while paying bills. Along the way, students draw fate cards that either earn them additional money or cost them money. The winner is the player who has the most savings at the end of the game. After the game is over, students reflect, in writing, about what they learned about preparing a budget. This is a great lesson for AVID as money management

For this project, students research and compare 3 branches of the military and then select one to complete a two page newspaper on. The newspaper template is included. Students then present their newspapers to the class for practice public speaking. Newspapers look great on a bulletin board for career week. This activity also includes a scoring guide.

Students are divided into small groups to become college admissions officers who examine 2 applications to a fictitious university. Here are easy to use physical education plans for primary students (grades 1-3). There are 36 weeks of plans with each week focussing on a particular skill.
