Many students see solving Math problems as a "Magic Trick" where the answers just appear fro thin air. Many learners struggle to see how the answer is created or the steps to get there. What I learned from working in a resource class is that you need to break down problems into a step by step process that is visual, uses metacognition, and can easily be replicated by students. These strategies are great for all learners, not just the ELLs, SPED, and falls far below students.
I like to make sure my lessons and activities incorporate several learning styles (Visual, Linguistic/Verbal, Kinesthetic, Logical, Interpersonal/Cooperative Learning, Intrapersonal, Musical/Pattern, and Naturalistic). I feel that it is important to give students more that one way to access content and demonstrate their understanding, even in Math.
